A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL
Bal-Niketan was established in 1962 by the S.S.D.V. Association. The association raised significant funds and constructed its own building at No. 6, Chinna Naickaran Street, Sowcarpet, which was inaugurated in 1969 by Sri Badrinath I.A.S., the then Collector of Chennai.

Shri Kanaiyalal Agarwal Bal-Niketan is a pioneering English-medium school in the Sowcarpet area. It serves as the feeder school for both Shri Sanatana Dharma Vidyalaya and Motilal Fomra Sanatana Dharma Higher Secondary School.
The school’s curriculum was developed under the valuable guidance of prominent educationalists, including Kulapathi Late Shri Bala Krishna Joshi, among others. Over the years, the school has transitioned into its current format, following the matriculation system starting from the last academic year. Presently, the school educates approximately 700 students and has around 22 teachers on staff. English is the primary medium of instruction, with Hindi and Tamil offered as second and third languages.
Equipped with modern teaching aids, a well-stocked library, and a fully functional computer lab, the school keeps pace with contemporary educational trends. Experienced and qualified teachers contribute to maintaining high academic standards and excellence.
The school celebrates a variety of cultural and national events, including Aksharabyasam, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Janmashtami, Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, Republic Day, Sports Day, Annual Day, and Kindergarten & 5th Standard Convocations. In addition, we organize summer camps to provide students with productive vacation activities.
In our commitment to offering the best education in a conducive environment, we have expanded the school building to better accommodate the growing needs of our students and enhance their learning experience.

Bal-Niketan was founded in the year 1962 by the S.S.D.V. Association. The Association raised a massive fund and got its own building constructed in the year 1969 at No.6, Chinna Naickaran Street, Sowcarpet which was formally inaugurated by Sri Badrinath I.A.S. the then Collector of Chennai.
The Association is managing four Educational Institutions, namely Motilal Fomra Sanatana Dharma Higher Secondary School for Boys (Govt. Aided), Sri Sanatana Dharma Vidyalaya Matric School for girls and Sri Kanaiyalal Agarwal Bal- Niketan (English Medium Primary School), Shakthi Public School – Tiruttani (CBSE)
Shri Kanaiyalal Agarwal Bal-Niketan is a pioneer English Medium School in Sowcarpet area. It is the feeder school for Sri Sanatana Dharma Vidyalaya Matric Higher Secondary School and Motilal Fomra Sanatana Dharma Higher Secondary School. The curriculum for the school was discussed and framed under the valuable guidance of eminent educationalists like Kulapathi Late Shree Bala Krishna Joshi and others. The school was converted into day school in 2007 and now it is run on Samacheer Kalvi- CCE pattern. Presently the school is imparting education to700 students. There are 22 teachers on its roll. The medium of instruction is English with Hindi and Tamil as second and third languages. The school is well equipped with teaching aids and equipments, reading material and a full fledged computer lab, LCD & White Board in each class room, Projector in the Hall in addition to all the other necessary facilities in keeping with the modern trends in education. Yoga, Karate, Dance, Abacus, Sanskrit & Library are included in the regular curriculum. Experienced and trained teachers help to maintain the academic excellence and high standard of the school.
With the grace of the Almighty, KAB is grateful to the SSDV Assn. for purchasing a Land at 5, Elephant Gate Street ( Behind the Existing KAB Building) and the construction of the New Building completed in the year 2023. There is connectivity passage between both the buildings for easy access with modern facilities for the school The new building is the boon in disguise for the dream of the expansion of KAB has come true.
We celebrate Aksharabhyas, Vinayaka Chathurthi, Janmashtami, Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, Republic Day, Sports Day, Annual Day and Kindergarten & V Std Convocation.
Our special celebrations are International Teachers’ Day, Childrens’ Day, International Womens’Day, World Water Day, Gandhi Jayanthi etc.,
We conduct special camps like Dental Care, Eye Care, Cancer & Swine Flu Awareness, Blood donation, Growth assessment, Yoga etc.,
We conduct seminars for teachers on General concepts like Art of living, Educom, CCE etc., and workshops for students on Hindi Quiz, English Quiz, Games, Meditation, Geetha Chanting, Sanskrit Slokas, Science Projects, Craft , Art, Social service, Cow Welfare & Charity for the needy etc.
We conduct rallies on Grow Green, Environmental Awareness, Wellness, Animal Welfare, Clean India Campaign, Spiritual, Peace, Rain Water Harvesting, Protection of Unborn Child, Yoga etc.,
To face the challenges of the present competitive world and to provide the best education with the best infrastructure in the best environment, spacious classrooms with CCTV Camera, LCD Projector, C.C.T.V. and Intercom in H.M’s cabin to maintain discipline, air conditioned Prayer Hall and an Inverter to meet the needs during power failure.
Our school has an Inhouse Magazine “Jyothi Kalash” which is issued thrice a year. We have special features like Website, Email & SMS for communication.
Our school completed 50 glorious years and celebrated Golden Jubilee Year in 2012.
MOTILAL FOMRA S ANATANA DHARMA HIGHER S ECONDARY S CHOOL
Motilal Fomra Sanatana Dharma Higher Secondary School which was started as a high school in 1960 has developed a magnificent stature as a full fledged Tamil Nadu State Board Higher Secondary School with both Hindi medium and English medium in classes VI to X. Science, Commerce and History groups are offered in XI & XII std with languages English and Hindi or Tamil. The school claims a commendable academic record consistently over the years in the XI & XII public exams, the results of the past two years 2002 – 2004 being 100 % in X std & 93 and 87 % in Hr. Sec. public examination. Weekly cycle tests, extra coaching classes for the slow learners, individual attention to the students to improve their academic ability with a rigorous schedule are the highlighting features. Students are involved in a myriad of co-curricular and extra curricular activities like the Scouts, JRC, Nature club are encouraged to participate in multifarious competitions. The students are directed to write the UNO exam, examination on Gandhiji’s Biography conducted by the Gandhi study centre and take part in Gita Chanting Competition conducted by Chinmaya Mission. Cumulative assessment record is maintained for each student at the middle school, high school and higher secondary levels.
School is well equipped with Physics, Chemistry, Biology labs and an advanced Hi-tech computer lab. Library with about 4000 books caters to the different needs and tastes of the students. Shri Sanatana Dharma Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School was established in the year 1919. It provides all round personality development to girls from Std. VI – Std. XII. The school believes in an open system of education with a positive approach to all issues.

Murakkampattu Village, located a mere 3 km from Tiruttani, is the home of Shakthi Public School, a modern-concept school founded by Shakthi Education Trust. Shakthi Education Trust was formed on 5th December 2011 and is Registered as a Public Charitable Trust under The Indian Trust Act 1882.
